Instant Age Rewind

Hello lovelies,

So a friend of mine asked me a few moons back to recommend a good under eye "something" that would help with the under eye circles.  Now I don't really get a lot of under eye issues going on, unless I'm SUPER tired.  But I do like my makeup to look nice and uniform and even.  Duh Lexi...don't we all?   So I have been using MAC Studio Sculpt concealer for a couple of years, and I do like it for covering blemishes.  However for underneath the eye I'm not a huge fan because it does tend to pull my mascara from my lashes, and by the end of the day I look like I have a black eye!  So I decided to try something else...I'd seen a one of my favorite makeup guru's TiffanyD recommend the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser.  So I decided to give it a try, and I must say that even after only wearing it a couple of times I am very impressed.

First off since it is a drug store product it's very affordable; which is a plus!  I think I paid less than $10 for mine, which will probably last me for quite some time since I don't wear makeup everyday. I have a very fair skin tone, and I bought this in the shade "light 120" and it works for me perfectly!  One thing I would suggest when looking for a concealer is to go one shade lighter than your skin tone, or if there isn't one, one that matches.  I must say that  my favorite thing about this product, along with covering any dark circles, is that it doesn't grab my mascara; so for under the eyes it's ideal--obviously since that's what it's for!  I like that I can literally wear this product all day and not look like a raccoon by the end of the day!  I also like that it stays in place so I'm not worried about it coming off, or reapplying.  The applicator on this is a soft puffy "ball" like brush which is great for around the eyes since the it very sensitive skin prone to wrinkles. This product also is great because it's formulated to reduce puffiness, and hide wrinkles! I will say as a precaution, that this particular concealer is recommended for under the eye use only.  It is not one that you would want to dab on your blemishes or anything like that.  For that I do recommend the MAC Studio Sculpt that I use, or any other brand that you find you like!   Overall I think this is a great find and I highly recommend giving it a try if you have issues with dark circles or any under eye puffiness that you might want to hide!

As always feel free to email me or leave comments down below if there is anything else you would like to hear about, want me to try, or just what you think if you have tried this product for yourself!

Until next time!

ShoeDazzle

Hello again!

Two posts is one week?!  I must be crazy!  Anyway I've got a "list" of things I want to talk about so I may as well start ticking them off the list while I have the time...well I don't really have the time, but I'm making it.  Plus blogging sounds way more appealing than homework right now...

Anyway I wanted to talk about shoedazzle.com!  Have you guys heard of it?  I signed up for it last year sometime thinking "oh how bad can this be? cute shoes for $39.95 a pair...that's basically a steal."  So I signed up, answered my little "style profile" questions, and waited the 24 hours for my special selection of shoes picked out just for me by celebrity stylists!

Sound fancy right?

That's what I thought!  So basically every month now they send a selection of like 5-7 pairs of shoes that I might like and I can choose to purchase them or not!  The recently just changed their rules too!  It used to be that you got charged a monthly fee regardless of if you actually picked out a pair of shoes, you still got a "credit" for shoes that you could use later, but unless you "skipped" before the 5th of each month you got charged whether you purchased or not.  It was kind of silly and believe you me I had those days marked on my calendar so I could pass without spending money when I didn't really want to!  However NOW they have changed the rules!!  It's awesome!  You can now choose when you want to buy without the silly monthly fee!!  No more remembering to "pass" so you don't get charged!  Those days are gone!  So if you haven't signed up because of the silly fees, go check it out!  It's SO much better now.

I myself have purchased 2 pairs of shoes from shoedazzle, and I've loved them both! The first pair I ordered was an ULTRA high, super sexy, wedge booties (I'll try to ad in a picture later).  There were similar to a pair a friend of mine had gotten at Aldo, so for $39.95 I couldn't pass them up.  Unfortunately I did order about 1/2 size too small, so I can really only wear them when I wear tights or something...I should have sent them back but I was too lazy! I will say though because I'm and APO/FPO address currently I can't take advantage of the free return labels that they do provide you!  Which is nice in the case that you do need to exchange sizes or return them you always have that option.  Awesome.

The second pair I got recently and I absolutely die for them. They are SO cute.  They are a bright orange wedge, peep toe sandal with a velvety finish and the CUTEST chevron stripes on the wedge.  A total statement shoe.  They fit perfect and are just SO cute.  I cannot wait to wear them this summer!  The fit on these is perfect, and it definitely pays to read the reviews to see how others find that they run, comfort, etc.  I love these and have nothing bad to say about them except for that I want to wear them with everything.

I will say that overall my experience with the site has been really good.  They do tend to send out an email every day with different styles, trends and what not.  It doesn't bother me since I'm kind of a shoe whore and I love seeing what is new!  Once you sign up you can also find you friends from Facebook and shop their show rooms too!!  I also like that they ship pretty quickly too,  I got both my pairs in about a week and a half, which for me was FAST living where I do.  If you are in the states they will probably get to you a lot quicker.  If you are a shoe lover like me definitely check them out!  Their is seriously something for everyone, from super high heels, platform sandals, wedges, and flats they have got all the bases covered;  not to mention they also have cute bags and accessories if shoes aren't necessarily your thing!  So head on over to their website here and sign up!!

Anyway until next time shoe lovers!

Quick Hello & Shellac Review

Hello my lovelies! For those of you who are still reading, I'm sorry I've been absent for SO long.  I have been super busy with school, work, etc. and I'm afraid it's about to get even more busy as me and the hubs prepare to move across the world again!Anyway I have SO much I want to blog about, so much I want to share with you!  So let me just jump right in with my first of many long overdue posts...

So I've been wanting to talk about Shellac for a long time now. I posted a while ago that I was IN LOVE with this product.  For any of you that don't know I am a certified nail technician, and I pretty much love most things nail--yes, yes, including those hideous "duck feet" or "stiletto" nails...to me it's art, and I love it all!  But anyway I digress!!  SO Shellac....CND introduced Shellac in 2009 and it has gained MASSIVE popularity!  So here's what it is for those of you that don't know; Shellac is a "power polish"  not to be confused with a gel polish.  Shellac causes no damage to the natural nail if properly applied and maintained.  It is a hybrid polish that is made up mostly of polish, but has a gel property in it that makes it last for up to 14 days with no chips or nicks--unless you do break a nail or something then that is inevitable!  Now although I do LOVE the product, it's not for everyone.  Especially those who don't want to follow the advice of the tech, or those who aren't willing to take care of it outside of the salon.   Although it doesn't require a ton of maintenance it does require that you apply solar oil, or a cuticle oil 2-3 times a day to keep the manicure and your nails underneath healthy and beautiful.  However like I said it's not for everyone.  Some people have nail beds that are too oily and don't keep the product on, and this is something that really just has to do with the chemistry in our body!  It's out of our control. Some people who are in and out of water ALL the time (i.e. swimmers, frequent sauna users, etc.) or those that constantly pick at their nails may not get a full 2 weeks of wear!! There are constantly new shades coming out and the layering possibilities for colors are endless. Some nails techs can even ad glitter to it for beautiful rockstar manicures. Overall I say give it a try; especially if you have a special event such as a vacation or a wedding coming up! I've never had anyone that got less than a week out of it and that is still pretty good considering that regular polish doesn't last a day on me!  If you love the look of a beautiful, natural manicure this product could be for you!

Here are some picture of my favorite shellac mani's!

Shellac Rockstar manicure in "Cream Puff" with Martha Stewart "sugar cube" white glitter.

Shellac Rockstar manicure in "Romantique" with Martha Stewart "cotton candy" glitter.

This is one of my clients 3 weeks after I applied her shellac! It's flawless aside from the grow out!! She is wearing the shellac shade "Tutti Fruitti" with a "Cream Puff" rockstar glitter accent nail.

Shellac manicure in "Hot Pop Pink" with hot pink glitter.

This is my personal favorite shellac shade "Wildfire"...sorry for the blurry picture!

Well that's all for now...There are a bunch of other things I want to talk about coming up including my battle with Acne, a review on an under eye concealer (by special request!) as well as a "favorites" review on things I'm really liking at the moment! So watch out for those...I'll try to fit them in somewhere between life, homework and the gym!

As always if there is anything you want to hear about please feel free to ask!

Until next time...
PeaceLove&Shellac
